COVID 19

Persons wishing to travel to Thailand for any of the following reasons: business with a work permit (including their family), family reunification, education, studies, medical emergencies, foreigners with a residence certificate, must be provided with :

  1. A certificate of entry issued online only by the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern: https://www.thaiembassy.ch/Content/Embassy/163.html
  2. A visa (the conditions of issue remain unchanged: https://thaiconsulate.ch/visas/visas-non-immigrants/). The visa application can only be submitted after requesting the entry certificate (you will be asked for proof).

A certificate of entry can also be requested from the Royal Thai Embassy in Berne (https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/) for:

  • Foreigners with a valid Non-Immigrant visa (O-A and O-X),
  • Holders of a 60-day tourist visa or a valid STV (Special Tourist Visa: https://thaiembassy.ch/Content/Embassy/57.html#visa2, issued only by the Royal Thai Embassy in Bern). Switzerland is currently on the Covid-19 high-risk list, so no tourist visa can be issued,
  • Holders of a valid Elite visa AND a letter of approval from the Thailand Elite Member Quarantine Programme (TEMQ).

Appointment : Any request for an appointment to obtain a visa must be made by email to info@thaiconsulate.ch. Your request for an appointment must be accompanied by a copy of your plane ticket.

Non Immigrant Visa, Category « O », « ED », « B »

Non Immigrant Visa, Category « O » – Retirement

THIS VISA IS ONLY DELIVERED FOR PEOPLE WISHING TO HAVE THEIR RESIDENCE IN THAILAND

Single entry only

To reside in Thailand after your retirement :

ONLY FOR APPLICANT WHO IS ABOVE 50 YEARS OLD OF AGE ON THE DATE OF SUBMITTING APPLICATION

  • Actual Passport (must not expire within 6 months after your travel)
  • 1 Application form of the Consulate
  • 2 Photos taken within the past 6 months
  • 1 Copy of airline ticket confirmed
  • Health insurance policy document for the entire intended period of stay in Thailand with the following coverage : 
    • Outpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 40’000.- THB, and,
    • Inpatient benefit with a sum insured of not less than 400’000.- THB;
  • Copy of a bank statement showing a deposit at the amount equal to no less than CHF 25’000.- in the past 3 months OR an income certificate with a monthly salary of no less than CHF 2’500.-
  • An original apartment/house rental/buying contract in Thailand (at least the first two months).
    • If you are staying with a Thai natioanl, please provide an invitation letter signed by the Thai national plus a copies of his/her Thai identification and house register (Ta-bian-baan).
    • If you are staying with a foreigner, please provide an invitation letter signed by the foreigner and a copy of  the foreigner’s passport and residence permit/visa for Thailand.
  • Original criminal record valid for no more than 3 months
  • Original medical certificate in english. Applicant must not have prohibitive diseases as indicated in the Ministerial Regulation N°14 (B.E.2535) which are Leprosy, Tuberculosis, Elephantiasis, Drug addiction and third phase of Syphilis
  • Visa fee must be paid in cash : CHF 80.-

For non Swiss nationals, please provide further documents as shown below :

    • Copie of “C” permit

In case that the applicant’s passport shall be sent back by post, an envelope with applicant’s address and CHF 6.30 of stamps are required.

Non-Immigrant Visa, Category « O » – Joining family members

To visit your Family :

Single entry only

    • Actual Passport (must not expire within 6 months after your travel)
    • 1 Application form of the Consulate
    • 2 Photos taken within the past 6 months
    • 1 Copy of airline ticket (confirmed onward ticket – showing flight into and out of Thailand)
    • Copy of bank statement showing a deposit at the amount equal to no less than
      CHF 12’500.- OR an income certificate with a monthly salary of no less than
      CHF 2’500.-
    • Visa fee must be paid in cash : CHF 80.-

For those who wish to visit or join family members of Thai national, please provide further documents as shown below :

    • Birth certificate OR valid marriage certificate
    • Copy of Thaï passport
    • House registration of relevant immediate family members

For aliens who has residence permit in Thailand, please provide further documents as shown below :

    • Birth certificate OR valid marriage certificate
    • Copy of family member’s passport
    • Copy of stay permit in Thailand of relevant immediate family members

In case that the applicant’s passport shall be sent back by post, an envelope with applicant’s address and CHF 6.30 of stamps are required.

Non-Immigrant Visa, Category « O » – Volunteer (NGO)

To serve as a volunteer :

Single entry only

    • Actual Passport (must not expire within 6 months after your travel)
    • 1 Application form of the Consulate
    • 2 Photos taken within the past 6 months
    • 1 Copy of airline ticket (confirmed onward ticket – showing flight into and out of Thailand)
    • Acceptance letter from the organization stating duration of stay, duties, etc.
    • Copy of the organization’s registration (for a Thai NGO) OR copy of approval letter for operation in Thailand (for a foreign NGO) as well as a copy of passport of the organization director
    • Visa fee must be paid in cash : CHF 80.-

For applicant who whises to perform duty as a volunteer teacher, please provide further documents as shown below :

    • Original criminal record valid for no more than 3 months

In case that the applicant’s passport shall be sent back by post, an envelope with applicant’s address and CHF 6.30 of stamps are required.

Single entry only

To Study in an accredited educational institution or private school :

  • Actual Passport (must not expire within 6 months after your travel)
  • 1 Application form of the Consulate
  • 2 Photos taken within the past 6 months
  • 1 Copy of airline ticket (confirmed onward ticket – showing flight into and out of Thailand)
  • Letter of acceptance from the concerned accredited school, university or academic institution, with mention of your name, duration of your study, number of teaching courses per week and number of teaching courses per day
  • Evidence of adequate funding e.g. copy of bank statement of the last 3 months, bank balance certificate. If having a financial supporter, information about the finance status, employment, and relationship with the applicant must be provided.
  • Confirmation letter issued by Thai authorities overseeing the concerned academic institution (Official Education form)
  • Visa fee must be paid in cash : CHF 80.-

For non Swiss nationals, please provide further documents as shown below :

    • Copie of “C” permit

To conduct commercial partnership :

      • Actual Passport (must not expire within 6 months after your travel)
      • 1 Application form of the Consulate
      • 2 Photos taken within the past 6 months
      • 1 Copy of airline ticket (confirmed onward ticket – showing flight into and out of Thailand)
      • Letter of invitation from a compagny in Thailand stating objective and period of the visit
      • Letter from the applicant’s compagny stating the objective and name of the compagny/organization of the visit where the applicant is scheduled to consult/meet
      • Hotel reservation
      • Visa fee must be paid in cash : CHF 80.-

      • Copie of “C” permit
